SCIENTIFIC WRITER

The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a writer and/or scientist who can assist us with generating scientific reports and documents of a technical nature. You will be working at the Science Park?

Research Division, Department of Carcinogenesis, located in Smithville, Texas. You will be responsible for substantive and developmental writing of scientific progress reports, proposals, manuscripts, grant applications, slides, presentations and other documents. You will work directly with the Department Chair to assist with writing up scientific plans and reports requiring the amassing and analysis of highly complex, multi-disciplinary, scientific results/ outcomes. Responsible for the organization and development of a scientific document, with a specific eye toward the clarity, coherence, persuasiveness and scientific integrity of the material. Reconstruct, reorganize and integrate contributions from multiple sources into one cohesive whole. Proofread and edit. Advise and consult. Review the stipulations of grant and program announcements and assure compliance. A bachelor degree in natural science is required, with six years experience in either research or technical writing. Experience with publication software applications is helpful. Previous experience in a university-based setting is helpful.

PROFESSOR OF INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry is seeking to appoint afulltime permanent Professor of Inorganic Chemistry to aresearch active and innovative environment tenable from1 January 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter. Membersof the Department of Chemistry have strong researchand scholarly activity including interactions with UCC'sresearch institutes: the Tyndall National Institute (for ICTnetworking and electronics/photonics/materialsresearch), the Environmental Research Institute (ERI), theBioSciences Institute (BSI), the Analytical and BiologicalChemistry Research Facility (ABCRF) and with industry.Currently the Department's Research School comprisesover 80 Ph.D. students and Postdoctoral Fellows along with10 students enrolled in taught M.Sc./H.Dip. programmes

Three main Honours B.Sc. degree programmes arecoordinated by the Department:

(i) Chemistry (ii) Chemistry of PharmaceuticalCompounds (iii) Chemistry with Forensic Science. Majorcontributions to undergraduate programmes inEnvironmental Science and Pharmacy are also made

The successful candidate will be expected to providedynamic leadership both in research and the teaching ofInorganic Chemistry for all programmes offered. Theappointee will have an internationally recognised profileof research excellence in Inorganic Chemistry, preferably,but not necessarily, in one of the following areas:inorganic materials, bioinorganic chemistry, inorganicchemistry on the nanoscale, coordination chemistry, orinorganic synthesis, and a proven ability to enhance theeducation of students. The post-holder will be expectedto further develop interactions with one or more of theresearch centres/institutes described above. In additionthe successful candidate will have interpersonal andorganisational skills commensurate with the ability to actas Head of the Department
